Mineral Broth Base

A simple broth to start the week and repurpose across multiple meals.

Use this as a base for soups, grains, or a mid-afternoon warming cup.

Ingredients

  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 strip kombu
  • 8 cups water
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 tsp black peppercorn

Method

  1. Add all ingredients to a pot and bring to a gentle boil.
  2. Reduce to a low simmer for 35 minutes.
  3. Remove kombu at 20 minutes to prevent bitterness.
  4. Strain, cool, and store up to 4 days.
