Space is not a container full of objects,
but a residence for the human consciousness.
The house we experience is not simply a box.
Home is a corner of the world, sheltering
daydreams, and also protecting dreamers.
We are in the house, but the house is
also in us. We build our houses poetically,
and our houses build us spiritually.
As a person who has lived in a foreign country for 5 years, I feel that I do not belong to a particular place. My understanding of space and home is a combination of where I grew up and how I live alone.
This collection references the traditional Chinese cheongsam and American modern fashion of the 1950s and ‘60s. My clothing combines Chinese and Western characteristics and illustrates the collision of these different cultures, while retaining the emotions and stories that give them meaning.
